OPINION:

Dear Mr. Allen:

I have enjoyed for many years with his films, especially with their scripts funny and profound. I must admit I much prefer the first stage, crazy and absurd, but the explanation for this finding has to do with myself, more akin to avoidance unassuming to profound reflections on life. So "Last Love and Death" or "Take the Money and Run" are great in their movies filmografía. Salvo, la muy notable “Match point” el resto de títulos o son forgettable, as "Cassandra's Dream" and "Melinda and Melinda" and are acceptable Scoop . Its wingspan as author of film deserves better than the last qualifiers. I think there are still people going to the movies with the hope of enjoying the annual film Woody Allen and leaving disappointed but refuse to admit that the thing is not the same and just expressing type qualifiers is interesting. Is it necessary to make a film a year like a mere donut factory? You answer me that, but still has the strength to continue writing and the rhythm is marked by his mind and work.

I decided to write this letter after seeing his latest film, not his last film, "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" . The cast was exceptional, to the masses idoltrado Javier Bardem linked two females are high (I mean film height) Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson . Before I read some statements to see Javier Bardem saying "this film works thanks to Woody Allen. In other hands could have been infumable ". It is as if to acknowledge that history is bad and thank you lift flight. Well, unfortunately my opinion is the opposite. It is one of his films are less fortunate with several flaws that make it sink into mediocrity. To start a dull and boring story awakening with the arrival on the scene of Maria Elena, played by Penelope Cruz, who raises the vital signs of a sick film but fails to leave the hospital. Despite the loose dubbing, Penelope is the best out stop this project. Energetic and fun, seize the opportunity provided to give a thrust to those who believe it's just a pretty face. Javier Bardem makes me a feeling of reluctance, as if he believed in the film but directed as you got into it. The character, women lover, Juan Antonio, will soon be forgotten.

The way to tell the story is not unlike many other movies of his filmography. Casual encounters between characters, love that ultimately come to nothing and no circular arguments always return to the top. The big difference with other works is the absurd voice over this. This item is free and has no role. Who is the man who tells the story? A Vicky's uncle? A former boyfriend of Cristina? The voice is a resource that may be necessary but this only serves to hinder the narration. For example, we see how Juan Antonio tells Cristina that has to go to hospital because her ex has tried to commit suicide. Get out of bed, gets dressed and goes out late at night from home, take the car and goes to the hospital. As we see it, the lord of the voice-over tells us all as if they had installed the system of audio description for blind people in the film. The much-discussed kiss between Scarlett and Penénolpe or bed scenes between Bardem blond and have little morbidity. Some clasecillas Mr. Verhoeven you could use to warm up the audiences in better shape. If it is, this was not his intention to roll them but if you must do your best.

One aspect that has never wanted to care are the credits. It puts a black background with white lettering and background jazz music and that's the case. Not that this is a very important issue when classifying a film but it would be good to change from time to time. Nobody could tell you of another tape only seeing the beginning. All are equal. It is also nice and curious about the original credits type "Catch Me If You Can" . The changes in jazz music "Vicky Cristina Barcelona." Far from celebrating, I'm puzzled by the repeated use of the same song throughout the film. It is still curious ditty but it becomes maddening to hear in each scene. I will not talk the topic of the English and as used in the film for me, frankly, is something that worries me or that catches my attention. Moreover, it seems normal that a foreigner does it because he called attention to a number of aspects of a country, though they may be items that someone always turns out, never mind. Maybe you can about the guy playing the English guitar in the Barcelona night but did not come to dinner at a Chinese film them. That is clear.

me conclude by thanking the movies filmed. Recognize that we leave a legacy of great film that did not want it to look tarnished by some recent films really mediocre. So I ask you a well deserved rest. I do not want to leave, as I am sure you can still shoot a good movie that will satisfy the great movie buff but it was a respite. A high work rate so I do not think it is too good.

Yours sincerely an avid movie buff. Dr Jones
